I've ever seen.
Also the ending was great in my opinion, they were actually in a car
crash killing also a women and her baby, and while only Marion
survived, she was in a coma for a few hours coping with her loss
and/or "the collector" came for souls of her family members. Maybe I'm
looking too much into it, but whatever.
While in a coma she thinks they're driving toward a town named
Marcott, because she obviously heard that name as her doctor's last
name is Marcott. This confirms the explanation given of what happened
to them. If it ended here it would have been even a better movie.
So at the end everything is explained and resolved, but, I don't get
that scene after a few seconds of credits where those men who were
cleaning at the end found a paper with a list of things Frank wants to
do after 'this' is over. This rules out every possibility that the
explanation given is what actually happened. It would mean they were
actually driving on a haunted road, and who knows what happened.
That ending scene is just unnecessary and doesn't add up with the rest
of the movie.
Am I missing something? Anyone knows what the screenwriters and
producer where thinking?
No stupid answers please.
Someone wrote this and I think it makes sense:
ReplyDelete"The best way to explain the ending is they were all in a sort of limbo/purgatory throughout the film just before the accident actually took place. In the beginning of the movie, the dad swerves the car to avoid hitting that other car, when in actuality he did hit it. Even though the film panned over an hour, it was only seconds to the characters in the movie."
I suppose when Marion realises that she is the only one left (Her screaming to just "end it!" and the woman in white saying "He's not here for you.") the car "finally" collided with the other car, releasing her from the limbo or “road”. I think she was also in the limbo because she was also on the verge of death, but the doctor saved her, thus finally reaching "Marcott". A possible reason for why the family was sent to this limbo could be so that they got out the secrets they were harbouring from each other (The pregnancy, the pot, the affairs etc.).
The ending had confused me for so long, but this seems to the best explanation.
perhaps the note was there before the death an took wrong turning to show he be cool...perhaps twas to do wi the last time he spoke to his friend that had affair with his wife..who knows but gud movie!!
DeleteIt all makes sense thanks
DeleteThis comment doesn't tell us anything about why the note the father wrote was discovered. It just repeats the metaphors already suggested by the post. And what on earth is that 'shane jones' saying? Where did he learn English like that? Is he uneducated, or does he have schizophrenia?

ReplyDeleteGreat comments - and this was a pretty funny movie, too.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah I noticed something like when one of the people lose something in the purgatory they start to become insane then they die shortly after
ReplyDeletemaybe the father knew that his daughter is pregnant and what he meant of "when all this is over" is the dinner with his wife's family because he doesn't like her family and the annual dinner and his complaint about last year's dinner indicate that he indeed hate all of that christmas eve thing with her family, and also the card was kinda burned so it was with the father already when they smashed. the driving endlessly didn't really happen it is just in the girl's mind, her mind is making up things while she is in coma.
ReplyDeletethis is just a crock of shit!
ReplyDeleteHey I think I may got the movie... I think actually there is a curse attached to that road... The black car represent the messenger of death... Marion survived as she meant to bcz her time not yet came..the driver that bring him to the hospital may be a normal man.. a type of coincidence ... And the limbo of marion started from where he actually saved their family....
ReplyDeleteThere is a 2nd theory that they kill the woman in white ... Then trying to hide it, marion s BF may have kill the child .. there is a scene of that also.. his father hide his body.., the foldable trolley of child pushed by him also.. marion s bro, obviously look the woman in a lustios way.. and as marion's mother committed a sin of never trying to stop them.. so, the death actually get them what they deserve ... Marion saved bcz she opposed her father as we see it in the last part ,father hits him locked him up in car.. so and many of the plot holes also covered by this the theory ... But some are there I know..
